The Boston Red Sox reacquired outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers just ahead of the lockout.

In exchange, the Brewers received outfielder Hunter Renfroe, who batted .259 with 31 homers and a career-high 96 RBIs in his lone season with Boston in 2021.

Milwaukee also sent minor league infielders David Hamilton and Alex Binelas to the Red Sox.

Boston also added veteran left-hander Rich Hill on a one-year, $5 million deal, multiple outlets reported.

The Bradley-Renfroe trade reportedly was executed just minutes before the collective bargaining agreement expired after 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday. As the clock struck midnight to begin Thursday, Major League Baseball locked out its players and initiated the sport's first work stoppage in 26 years.

Bradley played eight seasons for Boston from 2013-20. He made the All-Star team in 2016, won a Gold Glove in center field in 2018 and helped the Red Sox win the 2018 World Series.

He struggled after signing a two-year, $24 million deal with the Brewers in free agency, batting a career-low .163 with six homers and 29 RBIs in 134 games in 2021.

Bradley, 31, is a career .230 hitter with 104 homers and 405 RBIs in 1,007 games.

Renfroe, 29, is a lifetime .237 hitter with 128 homers and 322 RBIs in 576 games with the San Diego Padres (2016-19), Tampa Bay Rays (2020) and Red Sox.

Hill, who will turn 42 before the start of the 2022 season, is returning to his hometown Red Sox for a third time. He pitched for the Red Sox from 2010-12 and again in 2015 -- one of 11 teams he's played for in his 17-year career.

Last season, he appeared in 32 games (31 starts) with the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Mets, posting a 7-8 record with a 3.86 ERA. He struck out 150 in 158 2/3 innings.

In his career, Hill has a 74-52 mark in 324 games (195 starts) over 1,134 2/3 innings.
