Goalkeeper James Pantemis, who got his first three games of MLS experience last season, re-signed with CF Montreal on Monday.

Pantemis has been with the club since 2018. The homegrown player saw action in three consecutive games in October, going 1-2 in the three starts while allowing seven goals. He made a combined 17 saves, including three in a 2-1 victory over Inter Miami in an Oct. 17 game.

The Kirkland, Quebec, native spent part of last season on loan to Canadian Premier League side Valour FC. He has also been in camp with the Canadian national team but has not yet appeared in an international game.

"This extension is the result of James' positive development over the past few years," CF Montreal sporting director Olivier Renard said in a statement. "His loan last year benefited him ahead of his MLS debut. He showed us his qualities and convinced us to keep working with him. This Academy product has all the trust from the Club, but it is now up to him to keep on working and keep progressing."

Pantemis remains third on the CF Montreal depth chart behind Clement Diop and Jonathan Sirois. Diop played in a career-high 20 games in 2020, making 73 saves while going 7-11-2.
