Atlanta United FC halted all in-person activity at its practice facility Monday after an unnamed player tested positive for COVID-19.
All MLS players and high-level staff are tested every other day with consecutive positive tests needed to confirm a COVID-19 case. Monday's positive test came after the same player tested positive Sunday.
Atlanta United (5-11-4, 19 points) are scheduled to face Orlando City SC on Wednesday in game that is crucial for the team's playoff hopes. The club is two points under the playoff line in the Eastern Conference.
As of Monday evening, Wednesday's game was still scheduled to be played as planned.
The player who tested positive is currently in self isolation and is being monitored by team medical personnel. That player reportedly is asymptomatic.
The team currently is conducting contact tracing to determine of more team personnel needs to be in self isolation.
